Eyebrow Products

Wednesday, 30 September 2015

First of all I will admit that I am rather rubbish at doing my eyebrows and they are always the weakest point on my face. I always struggle finding products that work for me as I am a natural brunette with bleach blonde hair. As a result most blonde eyebrow products are too light but dark brown ones are too dark. As a result I try and find products that are a taupe or ash colour. Anything too warm does not look right!

Powder and Cream Eyebrow Products

On the left is the Milani Stay Put Brow Color in Natural Taupe. This is a creamy gel like formula and is great when I'm wearing a full face of make up and want my eyebrows to look very put together. I don't use this every day but if I had the skill to make my eyebrows look great I would!

Next to it is the NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in Blonde. I use the shade on the left mostly and it makes my eyebrows stand out more than a pencil. I do really like this product but again I can never make them look how I want them to!!

Eyebrow Pencils

I use the Maybelline Brow Satin in Medium Brown every day, along with the B. Beauty eyebrow pencil in blonde which as you can see I have nearly used this pencil up! I find this combination works best for me as it's natural and not too dark. I used a very light hand when using the brow satin and mainly use the thinner end and not the filling powder.

My Favourite Make Up Brushes

Monday, 28 September 2015

I have tried quite a lot of affordable make up brushes over the years and wanted to share with you my favourites!

Foundation and Concealer Brushes

On the left is the Sonia Kashuk flat top foundation brush. I got this as part of a set when I was in Canada and I believe it was limited edition but I am sure there is the same brush available on the website. This brush is brilliant for really blending in the foundation and the quality of the brush is amazing for the price.

In the middle is the Real Techniques pointed foundation brush. I actually use this to blend in my concealer as it's incredibly soft and the pointed end means it's great for getting in any corners etc.

On the right is the Real Techniques detailer brush. I use this to touch up my lipstick and eyebrows with concealer. It's so tiny and is amazing for getting detail where you need it.

Powder Brushes

On the left is the 17 Cheeks brush. As you can see it did actually break but don't let this put you off! I also own two of the exact brush and they haven't broken as you can see below so I think I was just unlucky. Anyway, this brush is around £3 and it is amazing! They are my all time favourite brushes. I use this brush to set my under eye area, nose and chin. I would definitely recommend!

On the right is the Real Techniques buffing brush. I think nearly everyone loves this brush. I used this to powder the rest of my face. This was part of a set which I got for half price in Boots, but I would definitely pay full price for them.

Contour/Bronzer Brushes

On the left is again the 17 Cheeks brush. I use this with a bronzer to warm up my face. The only reason the handle is pink and not black like the other one is because I got the black one in a set.

The right brush is the Real Techniques contour brush. As the brush name suggests I use this to contour. You can really carve out your cheek bones with this brush as the shape is perfect for contouring.

Blush Brush

For applying my blush again I just use the 17 Cheek brush. It is truly amazing hence why I own three of them!!

Eyeshadow Brushes

These are all the exact same 17 Eyes brush. It is perfect for blending out your eyeshadow and for applying it on the lid. I mainly use them for blending as they are just the perfect shape and size for the job! These were around £2 I think each so a total bargain for what you get.

Top 5 Favourite Fall Nail Polishes

Friday, 25 September 2015
As you may know I love the fall colour palette so I thought I would show you my top 5 favourite fall nail polishes. I've already done a summer edition if you want to check that out!
Let me know which one is your favourite!

Barry M Matte Mocha

I love matte nails and this colour is perfect for the transition into fall! It applies darker than it first appears in the bottle, so it's quite a dark nude. I think it's also quite similar to what Jaclyn Hill's been wearing on her nails at the moment, if you're interested in a cheaper alternative!

Barry M Vintage Voilet

This also applies darker than what it looks like in the bottle. This is quite a dark purple, but it's duller than a standard bright purple, so it's great for fall as I personally don't like anything too bright on my nails!

Collection Antique Rose

This colour is a standard nude, which is great if you want something more neutral and not too dark. It does take two to three coats to get a full coverage. I would definitely recommend this for school or work if you're not allowed anything too over the top!

Maybelline Plum Paradise

This is a shimmery/sparkly dark purple and is brighter than the other purple shown but again not too over the top for fall. It would be a great colour for a night out or party!

The Body Shop Crimson Kiss

This is probably my favourite colour for fall. With a couple of coats it's a lovely burgundy colour and looks amazing with a matte top coat.

Get To Know Me!

Wednesday, 23 September 2015

Product Empties - Would I Repurchase?

Friday, 18 September 2015
I've seen a lot of empties videos and I enjoy watching them so I thought I would show you all the products I've used up recently!

Nivea Men Cool Kick Shaving Gel

This was technically my partners but I've been using it instead of my own. I really liked this and it was no different (apart from the packaging) to a female shaving gel. I am sure my partner would repurchase it, I personally would go for one aimed at females instead but it basically does the same job!

Radox Feel Glam Shower Cream

I tend to buy shower gels that are on offer at Tesco and I had never seen this before so I thought I'd give it a go. I would repurchase it again if it was on special, although it did remind me of shampoo as it was more cream like than a gel.

Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo

Again I only got this to try out in Tesco because it was on special. I actually didn't use it up completely because it dried my hair out so much. As soon as I used it I just wanted to wash it out, so I would not repurchase this. I mentioned this in a previous post and I wanted to give it a proper go but unfortunately it just wasn't for me!

Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream

I absolutely love this! I have already repurchased it and I am excited to start using it again. My skin has been very confusing recently and I feel this balances it out nicely. I'm not sure whether my skin is dry or combination but regardless I still like a matte look so this product is perfect for every day use.

Collection Work The Colour Eyebrow Kit

I got this to try out as my elf eyebrow kit ran out. As you can see I persevered with the lightest colour but it just didn't match or look right, and there's no point continuing to use a product that doesn't work. Therefore I wouldn't repurchase this product.

Collection Lasting Perfection Powder

I got this in the shade 01 Fair hoping that it would be light enough for me. I found that whilst it was light it made my face look very pink so I had to use it with enough powder to work. I also found that it applied quite patchy which was a disappointment because I love Collection! I carried on using it until I dropped it and it smashed, so I gave up using it and carried on with the other powder. I wouldn't repurchase this product!

ELF Maximum Coverage Concealer

This is one of my favourite concealers but I can not find it anywhere to repurchase! I hope that elf decide to start selling in the UK again so I can buy loads of them so I never run out. I would definitely repurchase it if I can find it again.

Superdrug Hydrating Lip Balm

I love this product and found that it genuinely kept my lips moisturised unlike some other lip products. I would repurchase this once my other lip balms run out. I also love that it's cruelty free and very affordable!

New Cid Cosmetics High Intense Mascara

I actually do not remember where I got this from but I thought I would include it anyway. I found this mascara would make my lashes look quite clumpy and they would all stick together. It also dried out quicker than my other mascaras have and the brush was too big and bulky for my liking. I wouldn't repurchase this!

Collection Lengthening Mascara

Last but definitely not least is this Collection Mascara. I love this product and would repurchase it once I use up my other mascaras. I found that it didn't make my lashes look clumpy yet would still make them look very long. The brush size is ideal as it's quite thin and not too wide so it's perfect for getting individual lashes and the bottom lashes. It also didn't dry out really quickly so you get the full use of this product.

The Balm NUDE 'tude Eyeshadow Palette - review and swatches

Monday, 14 September 2015
When I saw this gorgeous The Balm eyeshadow palette in TK Maxx for £17 I knew I had to get it! It was originally £32 so I got it for a total bargain. There were some other eyeshadow palettes in TK Maxx on offer but some very annoying people had decided to swatch the actual eyeshadows and then put it back! I personally am not comfortable buying any make up that someone has previously touched, no matter what the discount, so I was lucky to find this palette.

I've taken pictures of the palette and swatches with the flash on and off, so you can see how it varies below.

The are four matte shades and eight shimmery shades, which I think is a good balance between the two. The shades themselves are extremely pigmented and are very creamy and lovely to apply. They blend well and a little product goes a long way! There is some fall out but I think that's to be expected with most eyeshadows, and it's definitely not enough to worry about.

This is definitely one of the best 'nude' eyeshadow palettes in my opinion on the market. I absolutely love the shades 'sexy' and 'seductive', they are perfect for fall!

I am very tempted to try some of their other products, let me know which ones you love!

Rimmel London Nude Collection Lipstick - review

Friday, 11 September 2015
I've been loving nude lipsticks recently so I thought I would try out a couple from the new Rimmel nude collection.

45

I only got two to try out as I felt the others just wouldn't suit me.

First of all is number 45. It's more of a cool toned nude and is almost mauve compared to a standard classic nude. The formula is no different to the other Rimmel Kate lipsticks. It's matte and applies very smoothly. The lasting power is pretty good and although it's matte it didn't dry my lips out. What really drew me to this lipstick is the cute packaging, it's so pretty!
At just over £5 this is a good product for the price, and you get what you pay for. I'm not sure this shade suits me though as it kind of washes me out.

48

I also got number 48, which I absolutely love! This is a dark brown colour so it's perfect for fall. It's also a great alternative to a dark red lipstick as it's more subtle and less bright. I will be wearing this colour a lot when uni starts again! I would also definitely recommend lining your lips first when using this lipstick.
