Back to College/Uni - two affordable outfit ideas

Wednesday, 9 September 2015
I'm starting my second year of university in a couple of weeks so I thought I'd share with you some affordable outfit ideas! Whether you're starting Sixth Firm College/University or going back to either, these two outfits are perfect for the first couple of days! They're also very affordable which I know for me is very important as a student. I'll include the prices if I remember them where I can.

Outfit 1

Boots - Forever 21 £20
Jeans - New Look £20
Tshirt - Primark around £3
Jacket - Primark £15

This outfit is quite laid back but still looks put together which I think is important for first impressions! The boots are really comfortable which is definitely a must have if you're walking around a lot.

My style is quite boring but you could definitely dress it up with a statement necklace!

The weather here is always changing so wearing a tshirt and a jacket means you won't be cold outside but if you get too warm in a lecture hall you can easily cool down in a tshirt. These jeans are also super comfortable which is vital if you're sitting down all day!

Outfit 2

Boots - Forever 21 £20
Jeans - New Look £20
Tshirt - New Look £5 (approx)
Jacket - New Look
(I can't remember the exact price but I would say around £20)

This is my favourite outfit out of the two! I feel it still looks laid back yet looks quite sophisticated at the same time.

I also absolutely adore this jacket. It's perfect for this time of year as it's quite thin so you won't over heat, yet it still keeps you warm if it gets chilly. It also looks great with the all black tshirt and jeans. Again you could add a statement necklace if you wanted to!

I try and wear outfits that make me look more mature and I feel this one does!

Which one is your favourite?

Thanks for reading :)

I was also thinking of doing a what's in my uni bag so let me know if you'd want to see that!

Top 5 Favourite concealers

Monday, 7 September 2015
Today I thought I would do another top 5 favourites post, this time sharing my favourite concealers. I am relatively pale so I always go for the lightest shade possible. All of these concealers are very affordable apart from one, so are great if you're on a budget.

Rimmel London Wake Me Up - Ivory

I love this concealer and has been my go to concealer this summer as it's not too thick. I used this every day on holiday and found it lasted all day without fading. I use this mainly for covering up blemishes and imperfections, but it can be also used as an under eye concealer, depending on what look you're going for. I personally like a light to medium coverage as I don't like too much product on my skin, so this is great. It's also very affordable and available pretty much every where.

E.L.F Maximum Coverage Concealer - Porcelain

This used to be my absolute favourite concealer and what I would use every day. Even though it's full coverage it's not too thick and doesn't go cakey. I got this when E.L.F were still selling in the UK, I also looked in Target and CVS in America but I couldn't find it anywhere so I'm not sure if it's still available. Let me know if you've seen this anywhere! If I can buy this it would definitely be my go to concealer again.

E.L.F HD Lifting Concealer - Fair

I got this when I was in America and this is great as an under eye concealer as it's very brightening. Again it's not too thick yet still has a good coverage. If I can't find the other ELF concealer then this will be a good replacement for it.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - Fair

I'm sure you've heard every beauty blogger rave about this concealer! This is great as an under eye concealer. It's quite thick compared to the others and is full coverage. It's also very light, even on me. I tend to only use this when I'm wearing a full face of make up. It covers dark circles really well and brightens the under eye area up a lot. This is a great product, especially for the cheap price tag!

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer - Vanilla

Again everyone loves this product and I can definitely see why! It is more on the expensive side but it is worth the money, It has great coverage and is the only concealer that doesn't crease. I used to use this every day and I wish I hadn't now as it's nearly all gone, but I will hopefully repurchase it in the future!

MUA and essence lipliners

Friday, 4 September 2015
I got these essence and MUA lipliners for £1 each in Superdrug which I thought was amazingly cheap! I'd love to get more but unsurprisingly most of them were sold out so I was lucky to get these ones.

MUA Lipliners

Left to right: Red Drama, Brooding Plum and Caramel Nougat

The MUA lipliners also come with a handy sharpener which is always useful!

Essence Lipliners

Left to right: 06 Satin Mauve and 15 Honey Berry

As you can probably tell from the swatches, the MUA lipliners are slightly easier to apply and go on smoother. Obviously for the price they are not going to be MAC quality but if you are on a budget or just looking to build up your make up collection, then these lipliners are great!

Make Up Revolution Contour Palette - swatches and review

Wednesday, 2 September 2015
This contour palette is available from www.makeuprevolutionstore.com for £8, which is very good value. The only other contour palette I own is the Barry M one, and I personally prefer the Make Up Revolution one. I'd love to try the Anastasia contour palette but I cannot afford it, so this is the next best thing!

As you can see there are eight shades, four highlight powders (two matte and two shimmer) and four contour shades (three matte and one shimmer).

These swatches show each shade with and without the flash. These are very pigmented and only a little is needed, especially for the darker shades. I personally feel the darker shades work better than the lighter shades, as you can probably see in the swatches.

When using this palette I use the second from left shade to contour as it's lighter and less muddy than the other two. To highlight my cheek bones I use the white highlight which is very pigmented! And to set my under eye concealer I use the yellow powder.

Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme Review

Monday, 31 August 2015

I'm not entirely sure when these came out but I do know that they're new and are now virtually sold out online. I was lucky to get two of the matte lip cremes, in a dark red and nude. I'm not entirely sure how much they were as I ordered from their EU site. I think they're roughly about £4 each, maybe less.

The nude colour is called 02 Adore and the red is called 07 Romance. Obviously the nude is a lot more wearable and doesn't go everywhere like the red!

My first impression is that I really like these! For a matte lip creme they don't dry the lips out too much or go flakey. They also went on very smoothly although I would definitely recommend using a lip liner as well. They're long lasting and do not come off when eating or drinking, which is quite a rare quality.
This is great however, until you want to remove it. They are very difficult to get off and the red went all over my face which is not ideal. Other than that I love these and would definitely recommend if you love matte lip products!

I would definitely buy more of these, maybe not in a bright colour but a dark nude would be ideal.
