Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme Review

Monday, 31 August 2015

I'm not entirely sure when these came out but I do know that they're new and are now virtually sold out online. I was lucky to get two of the matte lip cremes, in a dark red and nude. I'm not entirely sure how much they were as I ordered from their EU site. I think they're roughly about £4 each, maybe less.

The nude colour is called 02 Adore and the red is called 07 Romance. Obviously the nude is a lot more wearable and doesn't go everywhere like the red!

My first impression is that I really like these! For a matte lip creme they don't dry the lips out too much or go flakey. They also went on very smoothly although I would definitely recommend using a lip liner as well. They're long lasting and do not come off when eating or drinking, which is quite a rare quality.
This is great however, until you want to remove it. They are very difficult to get off and the red went all over my face which is not ideal. Other than that I love these and would definitely recommend if you love matte lip products!

I would definitely buy more of these, maybe not in a bright colour but a dark nude would be ideal.

Lorac Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette - review and swatches

Friday, 28 August 2015
I found this beautiful eyeshadow palette when I was in America and absolutely fell in love with it! I think it was around $42, and for what you get I think it's actually quite reasonably priced.

I've included pictures of the palette with and without flash and also swatches of each shadow. I also did my eye make up today using this palette and have included a couple of pictures of what I did. It's a straight forward every day eye look and nothing special. It looks different as the lighting changed and I am definitely not a make up artist, I just wanted to show what it looked like actually on the eyes.

Anyway, this palette includes four matte shades and six shimmery shades, which I feel is the perfect balance and combination. When using the shadows they blend so well, I have never known an eyeshadow to blend so smoothly. There was also no fall out at all, even with the darker shades. I personally love this palette so much, even more than my Naked Palettes which is definitely quite something!

Stationary Haul - Back to Uni

Wednesday, 26 August 2015
So this is different to my usual beauty posts but I thought I would share with you my stationary haul! I go back to University in a few weeks and I love stationary shopping so I couldn't resist getting these. Everything is from WHSmith and I used the 20% off cards that they're giving out at the moment. I will be going into my second year at uni which is super scary as things are starting to get serious, so I will need to be extra organised.

Notebooks

I'm doing four modules this term at uni so of course that means four notebooks! I write a lot of notes so I thought having one each will be easier to organise and I will know where all my notes are. I got these from WHSmith, I think they were two for £5.99 and I got an extra 20% off as well. I got a different colour for each module so it'll be easy to distinguish between them all, plus they look really bright and cheerful as well!

Planner/diary

I got this planner to use until the new year as I will have a different diary from the National Art Gallery in Washington to use in 2016 (I'm studying Art History so it makes sense). Anyway, I'll be using this to organise my blog posts and my uni work, and then in the new year it will be for blog posts only. It was £8.99 from WHSmith and again I got an extra 20% off. I love the pretty pattern and inside it is very simple and straightforward. I would definitely recommend this whether you're going back to school or uni!

Pencil Case

This is a tiny pencil case compared to most but it's perfect for what I need as I only take pens to uni. I usually just chuck them in my bag but I didn't want them leaking all inside my new Guess bag! This was only £5.99 and it's very cute yet still practical. It's great if you only need to take pens with you, but if you're at school I would probably recommend something bigger! I know when I was at school I had a massive pencil case full of everything I needed.

Top 5 Summer Make Up Purchases

Friday, 21 August 2015
Some of you may know that I've just got back from my holiday in America and I bought a lot of make up on my travels!
There wasn't a Sephora anywhere near where we were staying so I just bought a lot of drugstore make up that I'm unable to get in the UK. There was so much choice wherever I went and it was ridiculously cheap so I couldn't stop myself from stocking up! Anyway, I thought I'd narrow it down and show you my top 5 favourites that I got!

Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow

Bottom left: 24 Bella Bronze Metallic, Bottom right: 23 Bella Copper Metallic, Top: Bella Champagne Shimmer

Left to Right: 24 Bella Bronze Metallic, 23 Bella Copper Metallic, Bella Champagne Shimmer

These eyeshadows are amazing, especially the metallic shadows. They're super pigmented and the gel-like formula is lovely to apply as there is no fall out. The Bella Champagne shadow is less pigmented than the others as it's more of a shimmer. It looks beautiful when applied to highlight the centre of the eyelid or the inner corner. I can't remember the exact price of these but I think I got buy 1 get 50% off so they were a great bargain! I wish I had got more of these at this price and I would love the collect all of them.

E.L.F Golder Bronzer

This bronzer gives the skin a beautiful sun kissed glow, perfect when on holiday and in the summer. It acts as a highlight and bronzer as it's very shimmery. If you prefer a matte bronzer then this definitely isn't for you but if you like a bronzed, glowing look then this will be perfect for you!

E.L.F 3-in-1 Mascara

I actually only bought this because the mascara I had with me was waterproof and would destroy my lashes trying to get it off. I think this was around $2-3 so it was super cheap. I wasn't expecting anything amazing but I was very surprised when this actually made my lashes look long and improved the volume. I also love the shape of the brush as it gets each individual lash and also doesn't clump them together. Another great product from ELF!

New York Colour High Definition Liquid Eyeliner in Extra Black

Similar to the mascara I got this because I forgot to bring a liquid eyeliner on holiday with me. I literally only went for this because it was really cheap in Target, and I'm so glad I did because it's the most amazing liquid eyeliner I have ever used! It glides on so smoothly and easily, I couldn't believe it when I first used it. It stays on all day without smudging or fading yet washes off easily at the end of the day. I really hope I can get this in the UK as it's definitely my new favourite eyeliner! My eyeliner takes like two minutes to do now rather than spending twenty minutes re-applying it like I used to do!

Cover Girl 250 Sultry Sienna Lipstick

I don't usually wear lipstick on holiday but I wanted to look more put together for when I was in DC, so I got this beautiful dark nude lipstick. This reminds of a Kylie Jenner lip which I know is very popular at the moment and it was on sale in Walmart so I had to get it! I'll be wearing this all the time when I get back to uni as I feel it just makes my make up look more mature and sophisticated! It lasted all day and even survived evening meals!

Make Up Haul - MAC lipsticks (Speak Louder, Peach Blossom and Whirl)

Wednesday, 19 August 2015
I've recently been on holiday so I bought three MAC lipsticks as a holiday treat. I've only ever been given MAC lipsticks as presents because being a student, £15.50 for a lipstick is rather a lot!

Speak Louder (Cremesheen)

I love this lipstick! It's so different to what I usually wear and I don't think I own anything like it. It's a very vibrant bright pink but it's not too much like a Barbie pink. It's very unique and beautiful.

Peach Blosson (Cremesheen)

This lipstick is a beautiful pinky nude colour and glides on perfectly. It's ideal for an every day lipstick, especially in the summer.

Whirl (Matte)

This kind of reminds me of something Kylie Jenner would wear and I personally love whatever colours she has on her lips. It's brown but not unwearable and is basically a dark nude colour. It's also just came out so I would purchase it whilst it's still in stock!

If you want to see a  full MAC lipstick collection let me know!

Current Hair Care Routine For Blonde Hair

Sunday, 16 August 2015
I started going blonde three years ago this summer, and have gradually gone lighter to the colour I am today. I am very lucky that bleaching my hair hasn't ruined or damaged my hair too much. I've only ever had a tiny bit of breakage and my hair still grows a lot.
I am naturally  dark brown but I love being blonde and I don't think I would ever go back to brunette. I wash my hair either once or twice a week and use dry shampoo in between washes. I don't use anything special on my hair, everything I do use will be shown below. I also don't blow dry my hair or use any other heat on it. If I do on the rare occasion I'll use VO5 Heat Protect spray. I also bleach my own roots, after messing up a lot I have finally found what works for me (I can do a separate post on this).

L'Oreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss High Shine Conditioner

I use this every time I wash my hair as sometimes my hair can look a bit dull. I've found that this does actually work. Once I've washed my hair it feels silky smooth and more radiant. I also love the packaging! I think this is relatively new so I got it half price which was a total bargain. If your hair just needs that added bit of gloss and shine then this is great.

TRESemme Breakage Defence Restructuring Treatment Masque

This is a deep conditioning treatment for weak hair prone to breakage. I use this every time I wash my hair as well. Since using this I've definitely noticed that my hair looks healthier and is silky soft after washing. This is such a good product if you bleach your hair or it's just generally damaged. Combine this with looking after your hair and using a good shampoo and it's great!

L'Oreal Elvive Full Restore 5 Repairing Shampoo

This is for very damaged and dry hair so again perfect for my bleached hair. Combined with the conditioner above, this has most likely played an equal part in making my hair look and feel healthier. I'd like to try the conditioner and compare it to the TRESemme one, see whether the results are similar. Definitely worth a try if you're on a budget and looking for a repairing shampoo!

Fudge Clean Blonde Violet Toning Shampoo

This stuff is amazing!! It's kinda pricey compared to purple shampoos you can get in Superdrug or Boots but it's totally worth it! It removes yellow and brassy tones in my hair when I use it once a week. If you leave this on for longer than 5 minutes it can literally turn your hair silver/purple, so do be careful! A must have for all blondes out there!

Top 5 Favourite Nail Polishes - Summer Edition

Friday, 14 August 2015
Today's post is about my favourite summer nail polishes! My favourite colour is pink so these are all pretty much different shades of it as I tend to stick to this colour throughout spring and summer. Enjoy!

Collection Gel Colour Raspberry 7

I loooove this! The colour is super bright for summer and it's also long lasting. It only needs one or two coats to get that vibrant colour and I love the gel formula. It's also cheap which is an added bonus!

O.P.I in Suzi's Hungary Again (?!)

Apart from the really weird name I love this nail varnish. It is quite pricey compared to the others but I feel it is worth it. The colour is a beautiful bright pink shade and definitely lasts longer than an average drugstore varnish. If you're looking to treat yourself I would recommend this brand and the colour!

Rimmel 60 Seconds 405 Rose Libertine

This is not as bright as the other two polishes I've shown and is almost a pastel colour. It's a lovely pinky slightly coral colour. It dries quickly which I love and it lasts a around three days without chipping. This is perfect if you're on a budget!

Natural Collection Antique Coral

Antique Coral is the only nail varnish here that has some glitter in it. It's subtle but makes your nails looks so pretty. It is a very cheap nail varnish so only lasts a couple of days without chipping but I love the bright shimmery coral colour so would still recommend it! Perfect for summer.

Barry M Quick Dry Kiss Me Quick

This is just the most perfect pastel pink colour. I absolutely love this and the fact it dries so quickly. It's such a lovely girly pink colour which is ideal for summer.

Let me know your favourite nail varnish for summer.

Barry M Favourites

Wednesday, 12 August 2015
As you may know already, Barry M is one of my favourite brands so I thought I'd do a quick post and share with you some of the products I love.

Top:

Natural Glow Shadow and Blush Palette - These shadows are perfect for creating a natural eye look, and the blush is a beautiful subtle light pink colour. It has two matte colours and the rest are shimmery but are not too over the top.

Left to Right:

Gelly Hi Shine Lips in Dark Red - This is one of my go-to lip colours for autumn and winter, I love it!
Liquid Eyeliner in Black - This is so easy to use and has the right sized end to create either a thin line or a thick cat eye.
Lipstick in 165 and 100 - These two shades are my favourite. The formula is lovely and creamy and the staying power is surprisingly good for such a cheap lip product.
Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit - I use this every day, especially the light powder and the middle shade. I feel the bottom shade can make my skin look a bit muddy so I tend to stay away from that one. Apart from that I absolutely love the other two powders!

Perfume Collection

Monday, 10 August 2015
I will be the first to admit that I've bought a bottle of perfume before purely because the bottle looked pretty; I didn't smell it first! Luckily when I did this I loved the smell of the perfume as well. I love Vera Wang's perfumes and would love to try out more.
Let me know what your favourite scents are!

Left to Right - Zoella Let's Spritz!, Vera Wang Lovestruck, Vera Wang Princess and Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh

 Zoella Let's Spritz!

This is actually a body mist rather than a perfume but I thought I would include it anyway because I love it! I'm really not great at describing scents but it smells amazing. It's a great alternative to an expensive perfume and if you don't want an overpowering smell. I believe this was £8 so a total bargain, would definitely recommend!

Vera Wang Princess and Lovestruck

I love both of these perfumes so much! Vera Wang Princess is possibly my favourite out of the two but they both smell divine. It was Vera Wang Lovestruck that I got without smelling first. My Dad was going on a business trip and I saw this perfume in a magazine, so I cut the picture out and asked him to get it for me at the airport. My mum also loved it and she ended up getting a bottle of it as well!

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh

I've had this perfume for what feels like forever and I'm over half way through it! I would definitely re-purchase this when it does run out as I feel it's such a safe smell and is so lovely. The bottle is beautiful and again that was why I was attracted to this perfume in the first place! There are so many Marc Jacobs perfumes out now but I recommend this for sure.
